Griswold Home Care Has New CEO; Home Helpers Hires Chief Performance Officer

Griswold names CEO

Griswold Home Care — a non-medical home care franchise company — has named a new CEO.

Michael Slupecki is taking charge of Griswold in the chief executive role, the company announced Monday. The Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania-based Griswold currently provides companion care, homemaking services, hospice care and a range of other services across 200 locations in 30 states.

“I look forward to working with our dedicated and talented corporate team and our many franchisees to significantly grow and expand the Griswold network,” Slupecki, a long-time health care veteran, said in a statement.

Most recently, Slupecki served as CFO of BioMatrix, a national speciality pharmacy company based in Plantation, Florida. Before that, Griswold’s new CEO served as COO and CFO during Interim Healthcare’s transition into the Caring Brands International umbrella.

Fueled by that experience, Slupecki will be tasked with reviving Griswold’s place in the increasingly competitive and rapidly changing in-home care landscape. Griswold was originally formed as a family-owned business in 1982 by Jean Griswold; it later transferred into private equity hands in 2009.

“We are excited to welcome Mike with his extensive home health care service knowledge and health care franchising experience,” Josh Gilleland, president of Griswold Home Care Franchise Association (GHCFA), said in a statement. “The GHCFA looks forward to reestablishing Griswold as one of the premier home care service providers in the country with Mike at the helm.”

Matthew Murphy previously served as Griswold’s CEO, joining the organization in 2014 and helping the company restructure its franchise agreement.

In addition to its standard service lines, Griswold also provides a variety of specialized services, including dementia care, post-surgery rehabilitation, fall prevention and more. Griswold is backed by the New York City-based middle-market PE firm Pouschine Cook Capital Management LLC.

Home Helpers hires chief performance officer

Cincinnati-based Home Helpers has hired a chief performance officer — a newly created role.

In-home care franchise company Home Helpers operates across 1,000 U.S. communities, supporting older adults and their families through its growing network of independently owned and operated locations. Last week, it announced that Kimberly Demaree has joined Home Helpers as CPO.

“We are pleased Kimberly is bringing her talents to the Home Helpers team,” Home Helpers President and CEO Emma Dickison said in a statement. “She has demonstrated success in her previous roles and has the incredible skill to foster change and innovation at all levels of an organization. We look forward to her driving initiatives that produce results for our franchisees and clients alike.”

In addition to her Home Helpers role, Dickison also serves as the recently appointed president of the Home Care Association of America’s board of directors.

Demaree comes to Home Helpers after serving as chief marketing officer for Champion Windows and Home Exterior. Prior to that, she served as CMO for Timeless You; Demaree also has led marketing operations at Comfort Keepers and LCA-Vision.

Home Helpers created the new role of CPO to further grow the Home Helpers system, specifically by developing integrated programs to benefit the company’s franchisees. Home Helpers has seen double digit growth in the past decade.

Founded in 1997, Home Helpers offers a mix of non-medical and medical home care services. It has more than 300 locations that combined to record system-wide sales of more than $172 million in 2018, according to Franchise Times.
