Here’s what scientific research says about this:

1. Adventurers love salty and spicy foods.

If you like to snack on pretzels, potato chips, salted nuts, and spicy chicken wings, then it’s possible that you’re also a risk-taker, a thrill-seeker, and easily angered.

The fact is that, as research results show , addiction to salty and spicy tastes, as well as meat, dark chocolate, strong tea, coffee and alcohol, is associated with the need for new impressions, experiences, and sensations.

People constantly looking for novelty are often impulsive, impatient, easy to take risks, looking for dangers and adventures at their own expense, and have a strong, explosive temperament.

2. Sweet lovers are insecure

Those who prefer milk chocolate and cakes tend to seek approval from other people and depend on the opinions of their environment, as they do not feel very confident. Both sweets and support from other people affect the pleasure and reward centers of the brain.

People who are insecure or feel unsafe are reinforced by the release of pleasure hormones by eating sweets or receiving support, which, in principle, can lead to the development of addiction.

3. Bitter attracts sadists and psychopaths

Dark chocolate, black coffee, as well as grapefruit, broccoli, lingonberries, arugula and many other types of salad leaves – if you like bitterness in food and drinks, it is possible that the traits of the so-called “dark tetrad” of personal qualities are clearly manifested in your personality – narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy and everyday sadism.

This discovery was made by psychologists from the University of Innsbruck (Austria), after analyzing the results of a survey in which almost a thousand men and women took part. Moreover, addiction to bitter foods is especially often observed in people prone to everyday sadism and psychopathy.
