Civilization VI is one of the most replayable games in the strategy genre and in the franchise itself, not only because of its post-launch updates and DLC, but also because of the huge community behind it and the mods . For this guide we are going to quickly show you how to install them and play with extra content without any problem, you will see that it is very simple.
How to Install Mods in Civilization VI
There are two main methods to install mods in the game, neither complicated, but better to do it directly through Steam:
- Steam game and workshop: The Steam Workshop is a very convenient way to find all kinds of mods and install them directly with a single button. The first thing you need to do is obviously have the game on Steam, then access the workshop for that product and take a look at the long list of items we have. If you like the mod, you can click “Subscribe” and that’s it.
- Off-platform gameplay and third-party mods: If you don’t have the game on Steam, your best option is to manually download the mods and install them using the Nexus Mods launcher or another third-party site. (We say Nexus Mods because it’s the most popular and generally used one.)
Once you have downloaded or installed the mods you can open the game and access the “mods” menu from the main menu and mark certain mods as active or not for your games. Be careful, there are certain mods that cannot be activated in the middle of a game that has already started, it is better to create a new one or make sure before corrupting a game.
