Sometimes it is very uncomfortable to hold a smartphone for a long time. For example, when you are video chatting or watching a movie. In such cases, a special stand comes to the rescue. You can buy it or try to make it yourself. If you decide to go the DIY route, then our guide will help you.
Paper Clip Stand
This method is simple and suitable for minimalist solutions. Find a large paperclip, at least 6 cm long. First, straighten it out, making it as straight as possible. Then bend the paperclip into a “U” shape, dividing it into three equal parts. Each side should be bent at an angle of 90°. Finally, lift both ends up by 1–2 cm so that the structure can hold the phone and prevent it from sliding.
This stand is great for horizontal placement of your phone. It is compact and suitable for temporary use.
Stand made of binders
To create this stand, you will need two binder clips of different sizes. Take a large binder and attach a smaller clip to its handle. The resulting structure should be stable enough to hold the phone. If you only have one binder, use a plastic card, placing it between the handles of the clip. The phone is inserted between the “ears” of the clip, and the back of the phone rests on the plastic card.
This stand is versatile and easy to assemble in minutes.
Cardboard stand
This method is suitable for those who like to make things. First, take thick cardboard, preferably corrugated. Cut out a rectangle based on the dimensions of your phone. For example, the width of the stand should correspond to the length of the phone, and the height – the width. Bend the workpiece in two places to get a structure with an angle on which you can rest the phone. Use hot glue for reinforcement.
The structure can be decorated with colored paper, decorative tape or stickers. This makes the stand not only functional, but also stylish.
Plastic card stand
Using an old plastic card is another quick way to make a stand. Heat the card with a lighter in two places to make it more pliable. Then bend it into a V shape. For extra stability, you can make a small bend on one of the edges to prevent the phone from slipping.
This stand is suitable for horizontal placement of the phone and easily fits into your pocket. It is convenient to carry and is great for traveling.
Toilet paper roll stand
This method is suitable for home use. Find a toilet paper roll and scissors. Trace the smartphone on the roll to mark the place for the cutout. Cut out the hole, adding a few millimeters on the sides for convenience. To make the structure look aesthetically pleasing, decorate it with colored tape or paint. Use buttons or plastic elements as legs to make the structure stable.
This stand is easy to make and the appearance can be easily customized to suit your taste.
Lego docking station
Lego pieces are a good choice for this method. Build a base out of large bricks to create a stable platform. Add a vertical wall to rest your phone on. If you want to make the stand functional, add a compartment to store cables or headphones.
