Learn how to grow mushrooms in Minecraft and add a new dimension to your virtual farming experience. Discover the steps to successfully plant, harvest, and optimize your mushroom farm.
In the world of Minecraft, there is a huge variety of resources that players can collect and use for their needs. One of these are all the usual mushrooms, which can both diversify the diet, serve as a basis for creating dyes or become an element of decor.
How to Grow Mushrooms in Minecraft
In this article, we will take a detailed look at how to effectively grow brown mushrooms and red mushrooms. We will talk about the conditions necessary for their growth, and how you can use the mushrooms you collect to create food and other useful items.
A little about mushrooms
There are two main types of mushrooms in Minecraft: brown mushrooms and red mushrooms. They are mainly used in cooking, dye making, or as decoration.
Mushrooms grow in various regions, but are most often found in mushroom biomes, swamps, and on the podzolic soils of perennial taiga. They also prefer low light levels, so it is best to look for them in dark caves or in the shade of trees.
Mushrooms can be planted on any surface: on the ground, grass, rocks, and even sand. The most important thing for them is shade. If you want to get giant mushrooms, you will need a lot of bone dust during their cultivation. Having destroyed such a mushroom, you will get from eight to twenty small mushrooms.
Mushroom farm
A mushroom farm is a unique structure that simplifies the process of growing and harvesting mushrooms. This is especially useful if you need to harvest them in large quantities.
The mushroom farm is quite easy to set up and doesn’t take up much space. And if you add pistons and observers, you can completely automate the process, eliminating the need to collect them manually.
The building has only two disadvantages:
- At the initial stage, building a farm will be difficult, as it will require a sufficient amount of not the simplest resources and space;
- Mushrooms have a very slow growth rate, so you will have to be patient to wait for the crop to appear and then harvest it.
Stages of farm construction
For a farm, it is enough to allocate a plot of land eight blocks in each direction. Build two parallel rows of three blocks on the plot, install a large chest and connect it to a funnel. Now run the electric and normal rails over the funnel, and then place the levers under the blocks on one side of the rows and activate them. To check if they work or not, place a minecart and start it.
Place two rows of podzol block above the rails and create an additional row between them. Next, add three observers and the same number of pistons on both sides of the future mushroom farm.
Close off access to the podzol blocks with glass blocks, as shown in the screenshot below, and build bricks above each observer. The next step is to plant mushrooms and build a roof from slabs.
Now you have a fully functional mushroom farm that will automatically produce this important resource. Experiment with machines and blocks to expand your farm as you accumulate resources.
Adviсe
- If you are not satisfied with the podzolic block, you can always replace it with another one. In this case, you will need to control the lighting or place the farm underground.
- If possible, the truss can be increased in length, but this will require more soil and rails.
- To avoid being attacked by enemies, you should think carefully about your defense.
- In addition to collecting mushrooms in biomes for further cultivation, they can be obtained by shearing mushroom cows and purchased from villagers.
Growing mushrooms in Minecraft is a fun process that will help you replenish your food supply and create useful resources and recipes.
Growing mushrooms on your own is good, but creating a mushroom farm will allow you to easily and quickly obtain the resource in large quantities. Do not forget to experiment and improve your farm to increase your supplies.
