As the gaming industry develops, graphics in new projects are becoming more realistic and attractive – it’s not for nothing that new releases are increasingly compared to good movies. A few days before the end of 2024, we have collected the top games with the most beautiful graphics released in the last 12 months.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

Developer/Publisher:  Ninja Theory / Xbox Game Studios
Platforms:  PC, Xbox Series

The sequel to the warrior’s adventures in the fantasy world is praised primarily for its graphics – this applies to both the technical quality and the director’s work with the image. The picture turned out like in a movie: against this background, even the gameplay faded into the background.

The authors clearly focused on the atmosphere, spending most of their resources on the plot and the setting of the frame. The gameplay did not develop as much as expected, but for lovers of the plot and high-quality graphics, this is the best game of 2024.

Black Myth: Wukong

Developer:  Game Science
Platforms:  PC, PlayStation 5 (Xbox Series – later)

The adventure with a claim to souls-like showed how beautiful and diverse Chinese mythology can be. Vivid characters and locations never cease to amaze the player throughout the 30-hour passage.

Wukong itself is a project with a very high level of graphics, and the original atmosphere of the fantasy Celestial Empire only adds interest. It’s just a pity that you don’t have time to see the bright bosses – otherwise you’ll have to start the fight over again.

Stellar Blade

Developer/Publisher:  Shift Up / Sony Interactive
Platforms:  PC, PlayStation 5

The Korean action initially attracted attention thanks to its incredibly beautiful main character. The model turned out to be very bright and bold, especially against the background of gamers’ fatigue from the “agenda” characters of modern Western gamedev.

It should be noted that the game has something to look at besides Eve. In places Nier: Automata, sometimes God of War, somewhere even Metal Gear – it turned out to be a cool and interesting mix, which is pleasant to immerse yourself in. However, the main thing is still Eve.

Silent Hill 2

Developer/Publisher:  Bloober Team / Konami
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5

The remake of the cult horror was expected to have the same atmosphere in a modern wrapper, and the developers did not disappoint. The spirit of the fog-covered city itself looks interesting, and with new technologies the release looks truly creepy.

Both the locations and the monsters look very cool. The battles with them are staged very well, which sometimes turns Silent Hill into a real horror movie – especially in closed locations with a lack of resources or during a chase.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Developer:  Square Enix Creative
Platforms:  PlayStation 5 (PC – January 23, 2025)

Traditional Japanese graphics are not for everyone, but if this type of drawing does not hurt the eyes, the release of Square Enix is able to surprise with its scale and beauty of what is happening. This is not only a huge game world – as always, the “finals” surprise with their cool battles with all the fantasy features.

Japanese game developers have already made compromises for Western gamers, and it pays off. Now Final Fantasy is ahead of many not only in the quality of graphics, but also in the perception of the picture by players from the USA and Europe.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Developer/Publisher:  MachineGames / Bethesda Softworks
Platforms: PC, Xbox Series (PlayStation 5 – in the spring)

Another adventure game that attracts not only and not so much by the gameplay. But the work with sound, the plot and the cool picture are what you would expect from a game about a legendary archaeologist, familiar from childhood from films.

The graphics in Indiana Jones may not look like anything special on their own, but when combined with that same music and the dynamics of what’s happening, the immersion into the story reaches a new level. Or an old one – like in a franchise movie.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Developer/Publisher:  Asobo Studio / Xbox Game Studios
Platforms:  PC, Xbox Series

The new part of the flight simulator is a real breakthrough in its niche genre. Hundreds of world airports, dynamic weather and small details on board allow you to fully feel like you are in an airplane during a long flight.

It’s just a pity that this beauty is not available to everyone. Even on top-end hardware, Flight Simulator 2024 takes a long time to load and often lags, and the game itself lowers the graphics level to pixelated. All that’s left is to wait for fixes – for now, most PC releases are not up to the task.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Developer: FromSoftware / Bandai Namco
Platforms: PC, Xbox One and Series, PlayStation 4 and 5

The already insanely beautiful world of Elden Ring, if not reached a new level, then certainly became more beautiful. The DLC opens up new locations in the spirit of “dark fantasy”, each time forcing you to take a break from chasing the next boss and look around.

Having kept the general view of their souls, the authors do not stop drawing ideas for new fantastic locations that will take your breath away. No less spectacular are the bosses and some ordinary opponents, which only add to the magnificence of the world.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Developer:  GSC Game World
Platforms:  PC, Xbox Series

The new “Stalker” can be criticized for many things, but what the authors managed to preserve for sure is the spirit of the abandoned Zone, which was flooded with mutants and bounty hunters.

In some places the graphics are not up to par: this is evident both in the work with lighting and in the camera in cut scenes. But for a game like STALKER 2, this is forgiven because of the much-needed gloomy atmosphere. Among Russian-speaking gamers, this has always been appreciated, so we could not do without “Stalker” in this selection.

Neva

Developer:  Nomada Studio / Devolver Digital
Platforms: PC, Xbox One and Series, PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch

I would like to finish the selection with a small indie project created specifically for visual enjoyment. You shouldn’t expect realism from Neva, but the soft graphics combined with meditative gameplay are pleasing to the eye.

The authors did not invent anything new and simply repeated the secret of their success. The light artistic style, complemented by elegant melodies and a clear plot, is perceived truly brightly and forever.
