Before transferring, you need to create a backup copy of your WhatsApp chats*. This is how to do it:
- Launch the WhatsApp* app on your iPhone;
- Go to “Settings”;
- Click on “Chats”;

- Click on “Create Backup”.
Wait for the creation process to complete. If the copy is not created, then you may have a connection problem or the WhatsApp servers themselves are acting up*. Try turning off and then on your iPhone or just wait.
That’s it. The backup is ready. It’s stored on WhatsApp servers* and in iCloud.
How to Enable WhatsApp Backup to iCloud
Make sure you have enough free space in iCloud (if not, pay for a plan with more cloud space). Then enable adding a backup copy of the correspondence to Apple’s cloud storage. To do this:
- Go to “Settings”, click on your name at the top;
- Next, click on iCloud;
- Now, in the “Saved in iCloud” section, click on “See All”;
- Scroll down, you will see WhatsApp*, move the slider to the right so that its color is green.
How to Transfer WhatsApp* to iPhone via QR Code
This is the easiest and fastest way. Transferring chats is possible, including using a QR code. In this case, the data is encrypted directly on the devices, is not sent anywhere, and is exchanged between iPhone smartphones when connected to the same Wi-Fi network. To do this, you need to:
- Launch WhatsApp*;
- Then go to “Settings”;
- Click on “Chats”;
- Next, “Transfer chats to iPhone”;
On the next page, click “Get Started”;
- Now download WhatsApp* on your new iPhone, register the messenger with the same number that was on your old smartphone, use your old phone to scan the QR code from the screen of your new iPhone.
Transferring chats via QR code is the safest and most convenient way of all. It is much faster than using a created backup copy in iCloud or on WhatsApp servers.
