Roderica from Elden Ring – all about the character

Roderica from Elden Ring is a young noblewoman from a land beyond the Betweenlands. She arrived in the Barrow with a band of soldiers, but later lost all of her companions. Despite the tragedy, Roderica discovers a unique gift for communicating with spirits and soon begins helping the Extinguished One empower his summons. This article is about Roderica and her role in the world of Elden.

First meeting

The hero first meets Roderica in a ruined building on Storm Hill, near the place of grace. She shares the story of how her comrades went to Storm Curtain Castle, but became victims of sinister experiments. The girl admits that she could not follow them because of fear.

After a short conversation, Roderica asks you to convey a message to her former comrades. As a token of her gratitude, she will teach you the “Sit Sideways” gesture and give you the ashes of a ghostly jellyfish. To complete this stage of the quest, you need to find the doll in the castle and bring it to Roderica. To do this, go to Godric’s castle and take the roundabout route to the place of grace “Bastion Tower”.From there, run along the wall and across the rooftops, killing or running past the storm hawks, and get into the temple. There are 2 ways here: through the window or the hole in the ceiling.

Then just go straight, but on the way you will meet several exiles and a knight. Move until you see a giant hanging on one leg. After going down and killing 2 dogs, you can take the doll. True, you will have to dig through a mountain of corpses, but then with a clear conscience you can return back to the girl who is waiting for you in the same place.

Once you have the doll, return to Roderica. She will be inspired by such a gift, and she will decide to go further. The girl will be transported to the Fortress of the Round Table, and this will end Roderica’s quest in Elden Ring. If you decided to first explore Lake Liurnia and found a place of grace there, Roderica’s lines in the fortress will be slightly different.

In the Fortress of the Round Table

Roderica will settle in the main hall. As a reward, she can give a golden seed when you meet her or leave it in the shack. The girl will share her doubts and admit that she is still looking for her true purpose. To help her reach her potential, talk to the local blacksmith, Hugh, about her. He will recognize her talent for working with spirits and, after a few conversations, will agree to teach her the art of empowering summoned creatures.

After some time, Roderica moves to the next room and begins to help the Extinguished strengthen the ashes. Her scarlet hood disappears from the wardrobe and appears in the place where the dolls were previously lying.

Spirit Teacher

Roderica can increase the level of any ghostly dust using runes and lilies of the valley (ghostly or grave). Increasing the level affects the spirits’ health and the damage they deal.

If you upgrade at least one Dust to +4, Roderica will note in dialogue that she has begun to understand the nature of immortal entities. Eventually, she will even teach the Extinguished the “curtsey” gesture.

When the Scavenger appears in the Fortress, Roderica will warn the Extinguished One that there is something terrible in the opposite wing and asks the protagonist not to go there. When the Erd Tree catches fire, she will try to convince Hugh to leave the Fortress, but he will refuse. Roderica decides to stay with the blacksmith until the finale to thank him for his help.

Interesting moments

In addition to the main interactions with the girl, she has several secret moments. We have collected them below:

  • There is a golden barrier around Roderica in Thunder Hill. If the player tries to interact with her in unconventional ways (such as attacking or jumping too close), unique dialogue will be triggered.
  • Roderica is one of the rare heroes in the game who does not disappear either after completing the main quests or after completing his own storyline.
  • There are unused dialogues left in the game files related to the possibility of giving Roderick some dream ale.
  • In the game’s version 1.00 credits, Roderica is listed as “Lost Royal Farnesze”, leading many players to believe that her appearance and personality are based on the character “Farnese de Vandimion” from the Berserk manga.

Now you know more about Roderick and are ready to meet her. Enjoy!
