Some people are open-minded. Others divide everything into two categories.
It would be nice to be in the category of those with an open mind but not everyone is so lucky. The best I can do is give you the tools to understand it.
Open-minded people when they receive an exclusive invitation to attend an orgy with a dozen strangers do not trash the email. They inquire about the validity of the invitation.
In general if you are open minded you should follow the Overman on Instagram .
Here is a list of things that only open-minded people will understand.
#1 You are curious.
That is, you go and read what the polemical sites write and then you look for confirmation or denial of what you read. Because an open mind does not mean an absence of critical spirit.
#2 You try new things.
That is, you don’t just repeat the same behaviors over and over again, eat the same foods, hang out with the same people, go to the same places. That doesn’t mean that if someone offers you a new drug, you try it because you’ve heard it makes you want to jump off bridges. Open-mindedness doesn’t mean being an idiot.
#3 You enjoy learning new things.
So you read a lot, you study a lot, you learn a lot, and then you look for someone to discuss what you’ve learned with. Because an open mind doesn’t mean you’re antisocial.
#4 Listen.
If someone speaks, maybe it’s because they have something to say, it’s worth listening to them. But then you also look at how they behave. An open mind is not a naive mind.
#5 You have your opinion but it’s not the only opinion.
You would never die for what you believe in, because you know you could be wrong, just like Russell said. He was a man of genius, determined but aware of his limitations, an open mind in short.
#6 Respect the beliefs of others.
Even if you don’t agree, because your life and your story are not the only important things. They are just the closest to you. But an open mind can look beyond.
#7 Don’t label people.
An open mind needs a lot of space to function well. Labels only limit your freedom of thought.
#8 Don’t judge by appearances.
Perhaps you have ever picked up a book by its cover and been pleasantly surprised by its contents. However, you know that this is a matter of chance, not intuition. Appearances do not tell you enough about people to satisfy the curiosity of an open mind.
#9 You can fail.
Failure is not a shame, it may simply be the best result achievable under certain conditions. Shame is to stop trying. Just like Skinner said.
