Sonic was born in the 90s , being created by Naoto Oshima , during a small competition between SEGA game designers, in a team called AM-8, which is currently the Sonic Team. His initial name was Mr. Needlemouse , and he was soon developed with some of his most recognized characteristics to this day, such as his super speed and his spins.

After all the planning was finalized, Sonic Team director Yuji Naka was responsible for developing the entire game of the blue hedgehog. It is exactly for this reason that many people end up confusing who was the true creator of the character Sonic .

Its first game was released on June 23, 1991, ” Sonic the Hedgehog “.
