Pokémon Legends: Arceus  introduced a new evolutionary item players can obtain and use called the Linking Cord, and longtime fans of the franchise will likely find this item more useful than anything else. In  Pokémon Legends: Arceus,  the Linking Cord is favored by several Pokémon, especially Pokémon that could traditionally only evolve through trades with another trainer. In  Legends: Arceus,  there are four Pokémon that can still evolve through trades, but finding a Linking Cord is an alternative method for evolving them.

Part of the challenge to fully defeat Pokémon Legends: Arceus involves completing the first recorded Pokédex in the Hisui region, and the Link Cord allows players to forgo traditional methods in favor of self-contained completion.

The Link Cord functions similarly to the Link Cable in  Pokémon Legends: Arceus  , meaning players can obtain Pokémon like Alakazam on their own.

The Link Cord affects four Pokémon in  Legends: Arceus: Kadabra, Machoke, Haunter, and Graveler. Once players acquire the Link Cord, they can use it on each of these four Pokémon to evolve them into Alakazam, Machamp, Gengar, and Golem, respectively, similar to how the Dawn Stone in Pokémon Legends: Arceus can be used to evolve Kirlia and Snorunt. It’s worth noting that other trade Pokémon, such as Scyther, Electabuzz, Onix, Magmar, and Rhydon, are also present in  Pokémon Legends: Arceus,  but instead of a Link Cord, players will need to use the items they would normally hold during their trade evolution.

Link Cords are similar to all other evolutionary elements in  Pokémon Legends: Arceus  in that players can purchase them from the Trading Post for 1,000 Merit Points. Earning Merit Points is easy, as they only require players to be online and search the bags of other players who have fallen unconscious in the field. Upon finding a bag, players can receive a reward of 50 to 100 Merit Points from the Lost and Found menu.

Like Porygon, Porygon2, and Poyrgon-Z in Legends: Arceus , Link Cords can also be found in Spacetime Distortions, but they are not limited to one specific area of ​​the Hisui region. If players are lucky, they may even find multiple Link Cords during a single Spacetime Distortion session.

Link Cords can also be found randomly by breaking Shaking Ores throughout the Hisui region and defeating Pokémon that appear, such as Graveler or Geodude. Additionally, a Link Cord is guaranteed as a reward for completing “Request 64: Meet the Ghosts.” Unfortunately, both of these options are severely limited compared to Trading Posts and Space-Time Distortion in Pokémon Legends: Arceus .
