After spending over 20 years with the company, LeadingAge President and CEO Katie Smith Sloan will step down from her post, effective March 31, 2027.  

“It has been the honor of my life to serve LeadingAge for the past 10 years as president and CEO, and for 10 years before that as chief operating officer,” Sloan said in a statement. “Our vision of an America that values older adults and those who serve them has never been more important. I step down knowing that LeadingAge stands on a solid foundation, with a brilliant and important future ahead.”

LeadingAge’s board has formed a search committee to find the organization’s next CEO.

“The committee will undertake a thorough process, honoring Katie’s legacy and positioning the organization for continued success in service to our members and our shared mission,” said board chair Christie Hinrichs. “We thank Katie for her remarkable contributions to LeadingAge and to our field.”

LeadingAge is an advocacy organization representing over 5,300 nonprofit aging services providers, including providers of home-based care.

The organization’s advocacy work has recently included pushing the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to allow the moratorium on Medicare home health enrollment to expire.
