How to get the Purification ending in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
To reach the final Purification, we must perform all these steps, in this order :
We complete the normal Hirata Estate , reaching the Butterfly Lady , and defeating her.
We must continue with the game normally until we reach the invaded Ashina Castle .
Once at the top, we must speak to the Owl , remain loyal to Kuro and disobey the Iron Code . We will have to face the Great Owl Shinobi , and kill him. After this, we can enter Kuro’s room . We exhaust all the dialogues with the Celestial Descendant, and with Emma.
We have to spy on Kuro in his room . In his conversation he will say that he will do “what needs to be done”.
We rest at an idol, go up the stairs and talk to her about Kuro . We have to agree with her: Kuro must not die . We go back down the stairs, and rest at the idol again .
We go back up and talk to Emma again . She will give us Tomoe’s Note .
We travel to the idol – Ancient Tomb of Ashina Castle . Emma will be in the tombs on the left. We talk to her .
We travel to the idol – Desolate Temple in Ashina Outskirts . We go behind the temple, and spy on Emma and the Sculptor .
We talk to Emma and when given the option, we choose to “ ask about what we heard ”. When given another option, we choose to “ ask what she is hiding ”.
We will obtain the Father’s Bell Amulet . With this object in our possession, we interact with the Kind-Faced Buddha of the Desolate Temple , and we will teleport to the Hirata Estate – Purification .
We complete this area by reaching the end and killing the Owl (father) . He will give us the Aromatic Flower , necessary to obtain the Purification ending.
We advance in the game normally, completing the Spring Palace .
With the Spring Palace completed, we return to Ashina Castle at war . We’ll have to return to Ashina Reservoir, where we’ll face Genichiro, Tomoe’s path , and Isshin, master swordsman .
Once we have defeated Isshin, the master swordsman, Kuro will be on the ground , in the same area where we fought. We can interact with him and, depending on the items we have in our inventory, start one of three possible endings at this point in the game.
We chose to give her the Divine Dragon’s Tears and Everflower . We will see the Purification ending and, after it, the credits.
With the game completed with the Purification ending, we can start New Game+ using the option given to us here in the game itself, or, if we don’t want to do it at this time, we can do it whenever we want at the Sculptor’s Idol in the Desolate Temple in Ashina Outskirts.
Plot-wise, the Purification ending is bittersweet. It’s not the true ending . However, it’s not the worst possible ending .
