Bluetooth speaker won’t connect – reasons and solutions

Having trouble with your Bluetooth speaker not connecting? Learn the common reasons and solutions to troubleshoot the problem effectively.

A Bluetooth speaker is one of the most popular gadgets these days. Unfortunately, there are often problems connecting it to a smartphone or other devices. Let’s look at the main ones and give advice on how to fix them.

The speaker is not charged

A banal, but far from rare situation. If the speaker has just been purchased or it has been turned off for a long period, then it is not surprising that the battery is discharged. Because of this, the device does not turn on and, accordingly, does not work. Put it on charge for a while and try again.

Bluetooth is turned off on the smartphone

In case of unsuccessful synchronization, the first thing to do is to check the Bluetooth status on your smartphone. Often during the day, the user could at some point, for example at work or school, turn off the function and forget to turn it back on. To do this, pull the curtain down and press the desired icon once.

The speaker is not in pairing mode

In essence, this situation is similar to the previous one, only now the problem is on the speakers’ side. The pairing mode starts the Bluetooth module, and the gadget itself starts searching for devices available for connection. To turn it on, simply press the corresponding button on the speaker’s body.

System failure

There are frequent cases when a smartphone and a speaker cannot synchronize due to a system failure. It is worth checking whether the Bluetooth connection works with other devices, such as headphones or a laptop. Most often, everything is “cured” by a banal reboot of the “problematic” device.

Long distance between devices

Despite all the advantages, Bluetooth works stably only at a certain distance. And if two devices are located too far from each other, then no pairing will work. Therefore, it is important to place the speaker and smartphone as close as possible and try again. For the best effect, it is worth removing all obstacles that can create interference.

Error reconnecting

Usually, after the first connection of portable speakers with the phone, the gadgets will synchronize automatically in the future. But sometimes, when used again, a failure occurs and the devices cannot “find” each other. In this case, you should swipe the curtain down and hold the Bluetooth button to open the settings. Then, one by one, clear the list of previously made connections and repeat the connection procedure with the speaker.

The speaker has connected to another device

This problem partially follows from the previous point. If the speaker has already connected to the smartphone once, then in the future synchronization between them is done automatically. And if the connection with the portable device does not want to be established, then perhaps it has already connected, just not to you. Check if there is such a device nearby and if so, then turn off Bluetooth on it and repeat the entire procedure.

A special application needs to be installed

For normal operation of some models of speakers, you need to download and install a special application on your smartphone. The utility not only allows you to control the speakers and set various settings, but in rare cases it is the only way to establish a connection. Usually, the manufacturer places a link to download the software in the instructions in the form of a QR code.

The device does not support Bluetooth connection

It may happen that the speaker you bought works exclusively through an alternative connection, usually directly via a cable and NFC. In the first case, it is enough to find the appropriate wire, connect the two devices and follow the instructions on the screen. In the second case, turn on the appropriate module and lean the two devices against each other. When a confirmation request appears on the screen, accept it.

Physical damage

If none of the above methods helped, then the reason for the failure may be a physical failure. Due to an unfortunate fall or banal wear and tear of the equipment, an important part responsible for connections to other devices may fail. In this case, you should seek help from specialists at the service center.
