Modern smartphones are able to establish the location of the owner via satellite navigation system and network data. If you need to share your coordinates with another person, but you do not know how to do this, then our guide will help.
How to Send Your Location on Android
First, you need to make sure that you have allowed the device to access location data. The path to this feature may differ on different Android smartphones – let’s look at the process using the Huawei P30 Lite as an example:
- Go to “Settings” and look for the “Location data” section;
- Activate the slider opposite the item “Access to location data
The icon on the top panel will indicate that the function is active. It will appear every time an application requests access to the location.
In order to share coordinates, you need to use a suitable application. Let’s take two popular messengers (Telegram, WhatsApp*) and the navigation program “Google Maps” as an example.
How to share coordinates via Telegram
Procedure:
- Launch the application and open a chat with the person to whom you want to send your location;
- Click on the paperclip icon, then click on “Geolocation”;
- We allow Telegram access to the device’s location data and send the coordinates. You can trust the program or specify the point manually.
How to share coordinates via WhatsApp*
The process is almost identical:
- Launch the application and open a chat with the person to whom you want to send your location;

- The Google Maps application will launch in the window and determine your coordinates. Or you can specify the point manually.

Procedure:
- Open the application, click on your avatar and select “Transfer geodata”;

- Allow the application to access contacts on your device;
- We send automatically or manually set coordinates.
How to Send Your Location on iPhone
The process of transferring location data on Apple smartphones is identical to Android. The only difference is the “Locator” function, which is present in iOS by default. Thus, you do not even need to install additional software to send coordinates.
First, you need to make sure that the location sharing feature is enabled. To do this, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings, then go to the “Privacy” section;
- Click on “Location Services” and activate the slider opposite the item with the same name.
How to share coordinates via Locator
Procedure:
- Go to your account settings and click on the “Locator” section;
- Activate the slider next to “Share location”;
- After that, open the person from your contact list and click “Share location” again.
