How to Transfer Photos from Camera to PC
Photography enthusiasts are rarely satisfied with the resulting shots in their original form, so they almost always resort to processing in editors on a PC. We tell you how to transfer the received photos from one device to another.
By connecting a memory card
Most camera models use SD cards as additional storage. If the images you need are stored there, the files are transferred as follows:
- Remove the memory card from the device and connect it to the computer;
- In the “This computer” tab, left-click on the flash drive;
- Open the DCIM folder where all the images are stored;
- Select the required photos and simultaneously press the CTRL+C buttons;
- Open the previously prepared folder and press the combination CTRL+V;
- Wait until the transfer is complete, remove the SD card and put it back.
The only nuance of the method is hidden in the storage card. To connect to a laptop or computer, you will need a special adapter, which is usually included in the kit. If it is not there, then buy an external card reader, especially since they are very inexpensive.
By connecting the device via USB
The easiest and most effective way to transfer photos to yourself is to use a USB cable. Usually, each camera has its own, but almost any with the necessary connectors will do. The algorithm of actions looks like this:
- Using a USB cable, connect the gadget to the computer;
- In the “This PC” section, right-click on the connected device and select “Import pictures and videos”;
- If you need to copy all files, select “View, organize, and group items to import”, and if you only need to copy new ones, select “Import all new items”;
- Select specific frames or check the “Select All” box;
- In “Additional options” specify the folder where the photos will be transferred;
- Click on “Import” to start the transfer process.
The device must be turned on while copying files. You can also simply open the storage and transfer everything manually from the DCIM folder.
Via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
A method that is suitable for more modern devices equipped with appropriate modules.
- In the camera settings, turn on Wi-Fi and connect to the network;
- Download and install a special program on your computer from the manufacturer’s official website;
- Run the utility and specify the network parameters in its settings;
- Find the gadget through the search and connect to it;
- Select the photos you want and copy them to your hard drive.
Depending on the brand and brand, the interface may differ from each other, but the principle of transferring files is the same.
With the help of special software
Some companies additionally release proprietary utilities containing tools for working with files. You need to download and install the program from the manufacturer’s official website. The main thing is to correctly indicate the model of your device. After that, all that remains is to launch the software, establish a connection and transfer pictures.
The interface and menu of such applications are quite simple and easy to understand. But the principle of transferring images may differ depending on the capabilities of the device itself. Some allow you to copy files only via a USB cable, others work via a wireless connection.
