Before you can publish a video on Steam, you need to upload it to YouTube. If you don’t have an account there yet, you can create one using your Google account in a couple of minutes.

After that, we upload the video and check the settings. It is important that the access is set as follows: “By link” or “For all”, otherwise “Steam” will not be able to detect it. At this point, the first stage can be considered complete.

Now you need to link your YouTube account to Steam. To do this, open your profile in the Gabe client and go to “Content” in the drop-down list.

There we find the “Video” section next to the “Screenshots” and “Illustrations” buttons. There is a “Link YouTube account” button – click it and follow the instructions.

Steam will ask for permission to access the downloaded videos. You need to sign in to your Google account, confirm your rights and grant Steam access. After successful binding, a notification will appear.

Add a video to your profile and set up visibility

After connecting the accounts, in the “Video” section, click “Add video”. A list of videos uploaded to YouTube will open. Mark the desired one, specify the game it belongs to. If the title is not in the list, you can enter the name manually. After that, click “Add video”.

Now you can set up the access level to the publication. In the same “Video” section, find the “Video Management” item, where you need to select one of the options:

  • ” Public ” – the video is available to everyone;
  • ” Friends Only ” – only friends will see it;
  • ” Personal ” – only the profile owner has access.

Steam Video Content Requirements

Steam strictly regulates what content can be published on the platform. Since January 8, 2019, only videos directly related to games, additional content for them, or programs sold on Steam are allowed. You can also upload panoramic recordings for Steam.

The published material will appear in the profile and will be accessible depending on the privacy settings. Although there is no direct file upload to Steam, this method will help you easily bypass the restriction and still comply with all platform requirements.
