How to zoom a photo without losing quality
If you are interested in understanding how to zoom a photo without losing quality from your computer, the resources I think you should rely on are those listed below, which work on Windows , macOS and Linux . Good work!
GIMP (Windows/macOS/Linux)

The first resource that I advise you to use to zoom a photo is GIMP . In case you’ve never heard of it, I inform you that it is a popular software for image editing, open source and completely free. Being inclusive of a variety of filters and tools that allow you to enlarge digital photos without weighing too much on the final quality, it is excellent for carrying out the operation covered by this tutorial. Given its characteristics, it has absolutely nothing to envy to paid solutions.
To download and install GIMP on your computer, go to its website and follow the instructions I gave you in my specific guide .
Subsequently, start GIMP and open the photo you want to edit by clicking on the File menu at the top left, on the Open item inside it and selecting the reference file.
After completing the above steps, select the Image menu located at the top, then the Scale image item attached to it and, in the new window that appears, change the values in the Width and Height fields as you deem most appropriate . You also decide whether to keep or ignore the proportion between the entered values by clicking on the chain icon . You can also determine the degree of interpolation by operating the menu corresponding to the wording Interpolation in the Quality section .
When you have finished with the modifications, click on the Scale button and if you are satisfied with the final result, proceed with saving the edited photo, clicking on the File menu , selecting the item Save as present in it and specifying the position, name and format of output.
If you are not satisfied with the changes made, click the Reset button before saving to restore the image to its previous state. If you feel you need more details, check out my guide on how to use GIMP .

Now that you see the SmillaEnlarger window on the screen, press the File menu at the top left, choose the Open item from it and select the photo on your computer you want to zoom.
Now, fill in the Output Height field at the top left by entering the height in pixels you want to assign to the photo, select the type of enlargement to apply from the Enlarger Parameter drop-down menu and click on the Preview button on the left to display a preview of the edited image.
If you think it is appropriate to make further changes, you can manually adjust the parameters from the Parameter tab located at the top, intervening in relation to the Sharpness , PreSharpen , DeNoise , Flatness , Dithering and FractNoise items .
When you’re done, click the Enlarge & Save button to save the zoomed photo to your computer.
