Learn how to change the preview of your photos on Instagram to attract more followers and increase engagement. Follow these simple steps for a more visually appealing feed.

The new Instagram update has not left anyone indifferent, arriving with several new features, some better than others, depending on who you ask. Among the most notable is one that completely changes the way in which the thumbnails of the photos are displayed on the user profile. Previously, these thumbnails had a square format.

Now, with the new update, the format becomes rectangular, which has generated endless reactions, both positive and negative. That is why we have taken on the task of explaining how to fix your Instagram profile now that square photos are gone , for all those who were betting on the previous format. This will not bring back the photos in square format, but it will allow you to adjust the preview of the photos that are in your profile feed. Let’s see how to get it.

Instagram has recently been updated. And one of the biggest changes the app has received has to do with the way photos, videos, and posts are displayed on a user’s profile.Previously, the aspect ratio was 1:1, thanks to the 1,080 x 1,080 pixel resolution. Today, with the newly released Instagram update, it’s 4:5, since it has a 1,080 x 1,350 pixel resolution. As a result, this not only changes the shape of the thumbnails in the Instagram feed and how photos and videos are previewed, but it also messes things up, especially for users who have been posting in the traditional square format.

Luckily, you can fix your Instagram profile now that square photos are gone. As we said before, it’s not possible to go back to square format (perhaps by going back to an older version of Instagram), but you can adjust the preview of your photos. And videos, too. Just follow the steps below.

To adjust the preview of photos on Instagram, you only need to follow a few steps, and they are the following:

  1. First, open the app and go to your user profile. To do this, tap on the Profile button or icon that appears in the bottom right corner of the app.
  2. Now open any photo and tap on the three horizontal dots button located at the top right corner of the photo. This will bring up a menu of options from the bottom of the screen.
  3. The next thing to do is to tap on the Adjust Preview option. This only appears in the most recent version of the app, so make sure to keep it updated.
  4. Then, you need to click on the Adjust button. When you do this, the photo will adopt screen frames that, depending on their orientation (vertical or horizontal), will appear above and below or on the sides of the publication. To change the color of these frames, click on the Background button to choose between black and white.
  5. Finally, click on the Done button displayed in the upper right corner of the application to save the changes made.

Please note that to apply this to all photos and videos on your Instagram profile, you must do it on each post, one by one, as the changes are not applied to all of them equally. Also, you can undo any changes you make to the photo preview whenever you want. Just repeat the steps we indicated above.
