Console commands for Kingdom Come: Deliverance and KCD 2

In 2018, Warhorse Studios released a game that took a risk breaking the genre’s conventions: no superheroic exploits from the very first minute, no magic, and no easy victory over a dozen enemies. You’re an ordinary guy trying to survive in a world where one misplaced sword swing can send you to a loading screen.

But along with realism came bugs, strange animations, performance issues, and the notorious high difficulty. Players especially vividly remember the first few hours, when Henry’s career could end almost immediately after the adventure began.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

On PC, some of these issues can be circumvented using the developer console. It allows you to change individual game parameters, obtain items, add currency, enable advanced interface settings, and experiment with mechanics.

In this article, I have collected the current console commands for Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II .

How to activate the console and where to enter commands

In the first and second installments of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the developer console is available on PC. To activate it, add the -devmode parameter to the game launcher.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

If you use Steam, do the following:

  • Open Steam and go to the library;
  • find the required part of Kingdom Come: Deliverance;
  • right click on the game;
  • select “Properties”;
  • In the “General” section, find the field with launch parameters;
  • write -devmode there.

After that, launch the game and load the save. The console is opened by pressing the ~ key in the upper left corner of the keyboard, located under the Esc key. Depending on your keyboard layout, the key’s name may vary, so use its position as a guide.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

In the first section, the set of available commands can be viewed directly in the console. Some commands require -devmode, while some common console variables work without it. It’s best to check the current list for the installed version directly in the game, as some commands from earlier builds were removed or changed after the release.

If not Steam

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

In versions with a different launcher, the principle is the same: you need to add -devmode to the launch parameters of KingdomCome.exe.

For example: “D:GamesKingdom Come DeliveranceBinWin64KingdomCome.exe” -devmode

It is important to keep the quotes around the path to the .exe if there were any already.

The old version of the instructions for the first part required creating a Mods folder, installing a special archive, and separately adding a file with commands. This is no longer a requirement for current use of the basic console. The most important thing is to correctly enable -devmode.

Basic console commands

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Let’s start with the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I’ve compiled commands that will be useful for customizing the interface, managing your character, items, and game parameters.

Money and items

  • wh_cheat_money X — adds groschen. Replace X with the desired amount.
  • wh_cheat_addItem XY — adds an item to the inventory. X is the item ID, Y is the quantity.
  • wh_pl_showfirecursor 1 – shows the crosshair when using a bow.
  • wh_pl_showfirecursor 0 — disables the sight.

The wh_cheat_addItem command requires a specific item ID. So, old lists with dozens of IDs can be useful, but it’s best to check that the ID matches your game version before using it.

Interface and graphics

  • g_showHUD=0 — hides the interface.
  • g_showHUD=1 — returns the interface.
  • wh_ui_showCompass 0 — disables the compass.
  • wh_ui_showCompass 1 — turns on the compass.
  • wh_ui_ShowCursor 0 — hides the cursor.
  • wh_ui_ShowCursor 1 — returns the cursor.
  • cl_fov X — changes the field of view.
  • r_vsync 0 – disables vertical synchronization.
  • r_vsync 1 — enables vertical synchronization.
  • r_MotionBlur X — changes the motion blur mode.
  • e_ViewDistRatio X — changes the rendering distance of objects.
  • e_ViewDistRatioVegetation X — controls the drawing distance of vegetation.
  • e_MergedMeshesInstanceDist X — changes the display distance of individual vegetation elements.

Some of these parameters are particularly useful not for simplifying the gameplay, but for tweaking image quality and performance. For example, cl_fov allows you to adjust the field of view to a more comfortable level, while r_vsync 0 disables V-Sync.

Character and gameplay

Kingdom Come: Deliverance
  • p_gravity_z X — changes the strength of gravity.
  • e_TimeOfDay — shows the game time.
  • sys_MaxFPS X — sets the maximum number of frames per second.
  • t_scale X – changes the time scaling.
  • q — closes the game.

It’s best not to experiment with gravity and time scaling during a normal playthrough. These settings can significantly alter the game’s behavior.

Fast travel

The first part also uses the command: wh_pl_fasttravelto XYZ

It allows you to teleport the hero to a point with specified coordinates. The biggest problem here is obvious: if you teleport to a location associated with a specific quest step, the game may not correctly handle the necessary triggers.

Therefore, before experimenting, be sure to save separately.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 console commands

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

The system has become much more user-friendly in the second game. It also uses -devmode, which opens the console directly during the game.

The simplest test looks like this: wh_cheat_money 1000

If the command worked, 1000 groschen will appear in your inventory.

Money and items

  • wh_cheat_money X — adds the specified amount of groschen.
  • wh_cheat_addItem X — adds an item by ID.
  • wh_cheat_addItem XY — in some versions, this allows you to specify a quantity, but the quantity parameter can be unstable. If you need multiple identical items, it’s more reliable to repeat the command.
  • #player.inventory:CreateItem(‘ID’, condition, amount) — an alternative way to create an item by specifying its condition and quantity.

For example, the ID used for the master key is: 8d76f58e-a521-4205-a7e8-9ac077eee5f0

Command: wh_cheat_addItem 8d76f58e-a521-4205-a7e8-9ac077eee5f0 will add it to your inventory.

Saves

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

One of the most useful commands in the second part: wh_sys_NoSavePotion = 1

It allows you to save the game without using Saving Schnapps.

To return to the default limit: wh_sys_NoSavePotion = 0

If you’re playing through the game for the first time and want to preserve the original mechanics, it’s best not to keep this setting enabled. However, it’s really handy for checking quests, testing equipment, or debugging.

Fight and character

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

The command enables a one-hit kill. There’s an important caveat: the effect isn’t just for you, so your opponent can also dispatch Henry with a single hit.

Disabled by parameter: wh_rpg_OneShotKill = 0

Bow and crossbow

Shows the crosshair in the center of the screen when shooting.

To remove it:

This command is especially convenient if you don’t want to constantly navigate the arrow’s trajectory. It’s also used by players to make long-range weapons more comfortable to fire.

Lock picking

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

If the hacking mini-game is starting to get annoying, two commands will help:

wh_pl_LockPickingShakeOverride = 0

Disables screen shaking during jailbreak.

wh_pl_LockPickingDOF = 50

Increases the time available to work with the lock.

Horse

wh_horse_StealCurrentHorse

Makes the horse you are currently sitting on your own.

This means you don’t have to waste time searching for a suitable horse; you can simply turn your current mount into your own.

Another unusual command:

wh_horse_JumpGravityMult = -1

It changes the horse’s gravity. This is more of an experimentation and fun option than a useful setting for regular playthroughs.

Teleportation and coordinates

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Shows the hero’s current coordinates.

Teleports the character to the specified coordinates. Important: Specify coordinates without commas, separated by spaces, otherwise the command will not be executed. For example: goto 2154 2475 364

This is one of the most interesting console features in the second game. But it’s especially important to make a separate save here: teleportation can take you to places the game isn’t supposed to take you, which can cause you to miss a necessary trigger or break the quest sequence.

Interface and camera

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Completely removes the HUD.

To return the interface:

To change the field of view:

where X is the desired FOV value.

These commands are especially useful for taking screenshots, recording video, and adjusting the image to suit your monitor.

Weather

The current list of commands for the second part also includes rain intensity control:

wh_env_RainIntensityOverride = X

This value allows you to change the rain intensity. However, it’s best to use such experimental parameters in a separate save, especially if you’re testing unusual values.

How to disable the console and the ability to enter commands

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

If you decide to return to a normal playthrough, you don’t need to delete anything from the game files.

Close the game and remove -devmode from Steam launch options.

After the next launch, the developer console will be disabled.

For the first part, you also don’t need to delete the entire Mods folder if you use it for other modifications. The old method of deleting the folder after shutting down the console is no longer necessary.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

And another important point: you don’t have to completely abandon the console after one experiment. It can be useful not only for adjusting the difficulty, but also for troubleshooting bugs, checking items, taking screenshots, or restoring progress after a broken trigger.

The main thing is to keep a separate save before experimenting. Especially in the second part: teleporting and adding unique quest items can have unpleasant consequences for your progress.
